the weekend before halloween we went to tate's friend vince's parent's (aaron and sarah) annual halloween party. last year sarah invited us and mentioned that the theme was "tombstone" but i didn't think much of it. we had just returned from Germany with our traditional fest costumes, a dirndl and liderhosen- so i knew what we would be wearing to the party!
well, when we showed up we found that everyone was dressed in the tombstone theme- oops! but, we have all been laughing about it for a year now. so this year she told me the theme was "post apocalypse" and again- i ignored it! we have to keep up tradition now and show up, no matter the theme, as "the germans!"
however, we did find some "post apocalyptic" gear to add to our costumes this year-

she was tina turner's character in the movie "mad max"

we thought this pumpkin came out cool-

but this one came out even better-

i was soooo glad that macy chose a "blue" pumpkin this year! it was perfect for yoda!
time to carve a pumpkin and scoop out all the "icky gooey guts!"
even macy didnt mind!
i love that i captured this picture... here is brian trying to carve pumpkins with the kids and talk on the phone to handle some work crisis! he really does manage to balance it all...
and he knows how to carve an awesome pumpkin! tate said he wanted a black widow spider-
on halloween morning macy's preschool had a trunk or treat. here she is, as a purple dinosaur-
my two friends, chris and emily, volunteered to decorate their trunks and pass out candy. when i showed up, the preschool director passed me a bag of candy and told me to pick a parking spot too!
"roar" like a dragon, macy-
not bad, right? he was thrilled with it!
halloween night brian took the kids trick-or-treating while i sat in the driveway and passed out candy with my neighbor kris. when they got home, they chose their favorite 10 pieces of candy and we "recycled" the rest to our trick-or-treaters! i wonder how many more years we can get away with that until our kids protest?
anyway, we all had fun!
