Easter 2013

Last year, Ambra hosted us for Easter, so this year everyone came up to our house for the weekend! They arrived on Thursday night and as overhwlemed as I was with planning for enough food, bedding and activities for 9 extra people- I was excited too!

Of course, I wanted to make some treats...

I'd seen these cute little peeps decorations online a lot, so Macy and I made one and she promised not to eat it until Easter day-

I have a thing for food that is shaped/disguised into random cuteness. So how about some Easter chicks in a nest?
Or spring bird nests?

Okay, okay enough.

Friday morning we woke up and all (except Brian who had to work...) headed out to Six Flags! Ambra's family had never been and now that they are season pass holders, we will go together all the time!
We had a very fun, very long day at the park. I decided that day that there is NO way I am ready for Disney yet!

After the park we left the little kids with the big kids at home, ordered them all pizza and headed out to a local winery that we are members at, for a party/dinner in the vineyard!
I am slowly converting Ambra into a wine drinker. She and Frankie were very unsure about attending this winery event with us- but were pleasantly surprised at what a great time it actually was!

i mean how can you not have a good time in a setting like this?

make-your-own-s'mores goes perfectly with red wine, right?

we all had a ton of fun at the end of the night using the photo booth!

Saturday we sent the big kids back to Six Flags for the day and I must say it was a bit unnerving for Ambra to hand over the keys to Jake for the kids first ever highway adventure/day trip to an amusement park without parents! but they did great and didn't even get lost!

meanwhile, we took the little kids to an Easter egg hunt on base-

Brian and Frankie get along SO well. Ambra calls it "Bromance!"

The kids loved the egg hunt-
Saturday night we had to dye eggs, right? Ambra and Frankie were in charge of that. Too messy for me!

We all feasted Saturday night together, since we were going out to brunch Sunday. Brian grilled up ribs, tri-tip and chicken- with all the bbq fixin's.

Sunday morning we woke up to find that the bunny came!

we ALL went to church Sunday morning! it was so wonderful to have my whole family together- including my dad!

after church we went to brunch at the club on base and couldn't resist some more pictures with the Easter bunny first-
we loved having a kid table at brunch!

i think this may be the only picture of my parents all weekend-

after brunch we came home to hunt for the eggs that the bunny had hidden in our yard-
The bunny even hid eggs, with $1 bills in them, for the big kids!

Everyone headed home Sunday night after a relaxing afternoon. It sure was quiet in our house at 8pm!
