our week started of celebrating- brian! it was brian's birthday on tuesday so monday night i planned a little dinner here at the house for him with 4 of our great friends here- no kids! and no cooking- i had it catered! one of the mom's at tate's kindergarten had mentioned that she caters, so i thought- what a better way to celebrate then to have a traditional german dinner while we are here in germany for brian's birthday! it was a great meal, good company and hopefully the start to a great year ahead for brian.
on wednesday we got some very concerning news that brian's mom, gill, had been hospitalized for what they feared was colon cancer. gill had been sick and in a ton of pain at home and upon being admitted to the hospital, she was told that she would need emergency surgery for a tumor in her colon. surgery happened thursday night and it was a success. thank you God and all of you who were praying. gill continues to be hospitalized and will get a special vist from brian next week!
as it turns out, brian was scheduled to be in tennessee next weekend for a conference- so he is extending his time there and will be in knoxville with his family for 3 days. brian actually leaves this morning for his trip and will be in turkey and isreal, before heading to the states at the end of the week. we will miss him every day he is gone...
macy has her first winter cold! runny nose, fever, etc... she is doing fine overall, just a bit more needy- which i sometimes love! (tate was the kid who smiled during his chest x-rays and macy is the one who when her fever was 100.7 needed all the attention in the world.... hmmmm- maybe our kids are just like us! brian being the trooper at all times and me being the whiner! hehe)
and just to end the week on an interesting note- today we set the clocks back. so guess who was up with the kids starting at 4:47am? (tate first- he is SUCH an early riser. THAT he gets from ME! seeing how daddy is still in bed!) anyway- i guess it just gives me this time to get you all caught up on our lives!
please keep gill in your thoughts and prayers- and brian as well as he travels internationally over the next 10 days. (and me too- these kids could have me locked in the bathroom by 5pm!)
