wednesday 11/24- downtown madrid

we had a great day in madrid. we started off the day with a double decker red bus tour around the city. again- it was a sunny day! mike met up with us for lunch and we began an unforgetable afternoon of eating, drinking, sightseeing, eating and drinking!

brian really wanted this t-shirt with the "superafro" dude
check out this pumpkin! we went to the 'mercado san miguel' for traditional tapas (small appetizers) and wine and brian found this gigantic pumpkin!

mike and tate eat the worlds smallest ice cream cones (perfect size for tate, but i think mike was disappointed!) outside of the market

the potato chips on the left were the most delicious chips i have ever tasted! they were fried in local olive oil! tate and macy ate them for lunch- that's it, just chips! and macy kept going back to the woman practically begging for more!

this is the point where all highways in spain begin being measured

only in spain would you find a bar dedicated to bull fighting. i would not want to fight this guy!

this was a "shrine" in the bar. all the pictures were very graphic and most tragic...

this place had nice cold beer and the BEST fried calamari sandwich ever!

we also stopped into a very old, small and some what exclusive sherry bar called la venencia. you wont find this bar in a tour book and when we took out our camera, we were promptly told there would be no pictures. there were 5 types of sherry, all stored in large wooden barrels behind the bar. this place gave us the feeling like hemingway may have been there once- and nothing has changed in there since.
