Last fall we went up to the Embassy house in Puncak- about 90 minutes away, high enough up in the hills that you can have a fire each morning & night, wear sweatshirts and not have to deal with mosquitoes! The property has a main house, and guest house. So we decided to go with our neighbor friends, the Nguyen's who have never been there before. Getting there is tricky because of traffic and one way roads, and knowing what to bring along (all your own food right down to the salt and tin foil) really can make or break your trip. So it was great to be able to go back and show them the roads too.
We were there by 7:30am on Friday morning and by 8:30 Brian had his golf club out and was taking advantage of the green grass-
A new addition to the outdoor game closet was a pleasant surprise for the kids-
Who cares if you are 15, you still want some time with toddler toys!
Amanda is from NH, so she was equally as surprised as I was to find hydrangeas in Jakarta!
Croquet anyone?
Having never played before- I actually won the first game and shocked everyone! Second game, not so good.
It's not every day you see chickens on a roof of a purple house-
Or a beautiful flower growing on rusty barbwire-
I've said since moving here that tone word sums up this whole city- dictotomy. Which is shown in the picture above.
Macy and Bella-
I think the kids would say the best part of the weekend were the kids & dads football games. Here they are in their huddles-
These city boys were so excited to have the lush lawn and wide open spaces-
Check out this amazing bug I found-
A little walk through the woods anyone?
Gorgeous gardens everywhere, and open windows!
More flowers out on our walk-
Our walk ended at a cool mountain top lookout space, but sadly the air quality was horrible that day-
We played lots of games. Taboo was a favorite. The girls played giant yard dominos and the boys played hours of Magic.
They actually even let the girls play fairly often too. Sweet older brothers. Mostly. And we watched movies all huddled up in the living room during the rainy parts of the long weekend. The favorite- Ferris Bueller's Day Off, which none of the kids had seen and we adults hadn't seen in decades. Old movies and fires in the fireplace are the best at Mirasole. This trip there was a lot of Jason Bourne. And roasting marshmallows outside!
We all headed out as the sun came up on Monday morning and were home just in time for on-line school and telework to begin. Can't wait to go back already.
