tate turned 5 this week and i just cant believe he is old enought to start kindergarten this year- wow, it really is crazy. we had his party on saturday and he shared the day with his friend anna, who was turning 4. the party was super hero themed (his new obession) and held had a great indoor playplace. here are just a few highlights...
super macy!
the night before the party, we made his cake. his request was a strawberry cake with strawberry frosting- 3 years in a row! how do you make a pink cake appropriate for a 5 yr old boy's birthday? cover it in plastic super heros!
tate loved that brian was helping... brian loves that tate is getting into all the "super friends" who he remembers watching as a kid!
sorry these are so small...
here are batman (nick) and robin (tate)!
here all the super moms! (nikki, diane, me and sara)
almost all the kids came in costume and as a party favor, i had pink and blue satin capes made for each child- so even the littlest ones had on capes for the party. they were adorable!
how sad that we didnt get tate in this picture... oops!
eve, nick, tate and anna (the birthday girl!)
our friends nikki and kate came down from ramstein (2 hrs away) for the party, so they stayed with us overnight too. tate loved having kate here to play all his new games and toys!
on sunday brian had to leave to go out of town for the week, so we were a little sad on monday to celebrate tate's actual birthday without him. but, tate got to choose his food for the day (donut for breakfast, chicken nuggets for lunch AND dinner!), woke up to decorations and a table of presents and ate on his special bday plate from titi.
we made a special cake for kindergarten and he was the king at school, complete with a crown to take home. he didnt have to take a nap and we invited anna and eve over for the afternoon. it was a beautiful, sunny spring day so we took the kids into our village for ice cream and hit the playground. (tate of course wore his cape!) they stayed for dinner, we had a brownie cake and sang happy birthday one last time.
again, i really cant believe he is 5! he is "school age" now and not a "pre-schooler" anymore. he really is a great little boy. despite having a ton of energy and not having the best table manners, he is nearly perfect! he is kind, polite and smart. he's speaking german so well (even with nick now!) and has the best imagination. brian and i are constantly proud of him and really couldnt ask for more...
