dragon boat race festival

today was a great day for a festival on the lake- the annual dragon boat race festival! here is some info:

Twenty rowers, sitting in a long canoe-like vessel, must paddle in absolute harmony or victory is unattainable. A drummer sitting at the head of the boat sets the pace—think Spartacus with less dying. Dragon boating started in China 2,500 years ago. The prows of the boats are decorated with a large, fearsome dragon head while a scaly, dragon tail curls from the stern.

tate tried to make an ugly dragon face!
macy loved being the drummer on the pretend boat- just like her to be the lazy one telling the others to row, row, row!
im hoping that brian actually takes up dragon boat racing now! heck, he was on the crew team in college- so this should be easy, right? i've already found that california has a large dragon boat racing association and the largest race in the world is held in san francisco! we'll see...
