day trippin' already!

we "had" to go to napa today... actually that is true! we have been having break trouble with the volvo since we picked it up wednesday and the nearest volvo dealership is in napa, just 30 minutes away!

brian and i spent part of our honeymoon in napa, 8 years ago- and we havent been back since! so going back today was exciting, romantic and just joyful for us both.

the first place we visited was the bed and breakfast we stayed at- the candlelight inn. it looked just like i remembered it. we stayed in the "candle light suite" and hopefully someday soon we will go back and stay there again!        www.candlelightinn.com
next up, a picnic at the v. sattui winery. we also did this on our honeymoon and today was a perfect day to go back! sunny, breezy and around 80. there was even a bbq today that we enjoyed!

v.sattui is a popular winery in the area because of the awesome picnic area and also because of how exclusive their wine is- you can only buy it at the winery. it is not sold wholesale nationwide.

macy was thrilled to be running around the picnic area. i was surprised that we didnt recieve any snooty looks for bringing our kids along! since we have been in europe the last few years, we have just got accustom to doing everything with them- from art museums to wineries, they are troopers!

these are actual wine barrels that the winery used- we bought one to take home and hope to use it on the patio as a small table...
while driving home, brian informed me that he hopes we can taste all of the wines in the napa valley during this assignment! i agreed of course... although i was skeptical when he said we could even take wine tasting bike tours... i prefer a limo!

before we headed home, we had to stop off at our favorite winery- rombauer- for a couple bottles of the BEST chardonnay, to be opened once we finally move into our new house... the owner of rombauer is the nephew of the author who wrote the famous cookbook "the joy of cooking." he is also a former navy pilot and there is a huge american flag always flying at the driveway to the winery. that flag is what caught brian's eye 8 years ago when we decided to go taste just one more wine... and we fell in love with this chardonnay! www.rombauer.com

after our fantastic daytrip to napa, we stopped off and bought a new livingroom set! then we went to our new, empty house and sat in each room and daydreamed about where we will put our furniture, hang our pictures, eat our meals, etc... we cant wait to move in!
