halloween 2011

it sure was fun to be back in america for halloween this year!

we were invited to two halloween parties the weekend before halloween and luckily, we knew exactly what our costumes would be! (and will be for the next 20+ years!)

the second party of the night was at tate's friend, vince's house. this is me and his mom, sara below. she told me it was a "tombstone" party. she mentioned that she was going to be dressed up as a brothel owner, her husband a cowboy. so here come the germans... ding-dong. we walked in and everyone was in costume- from the wild, wild west! i didn't get that it was a tombstone themed party and you had to be dressed in a costume from that period! oops! so there were a bunch of cowboys, card dealers, etc- and two germans!
each year i make "mrs. rockwell cookies" and try new shapes/designs. i was very happy with the 8 dozen i made this year!
my mom wanted to be here with us this year to enjoy all the halloween fun with the kids. she was in charge of scooping out the "icky gooey guts" from the pumpkins...

macy told me she wanted a cat and tate a zombie...
we couldn't quite find an easy zombie to carve, but this satisfied him!
tate's class had a big "harvest day show and tell" party- not to offend anyone, of course. macy, cathryn and i went to help out. macy dressed as a tennessee cheerleader.
tate's fun teacher, mrs. howell- aka big bird
tate and vince show their moves
the whole class
time to trick or treat
macy suddenly wanted to be a ballerina- okay!
our first trick or treater tate challenged to a light saber contest in the driveway!
our friends, scott and hailey, came over for dinner and trick-or-treating with their boys...
the kids were so happy to have cathryn here for all the fun!
this was my mom's first time seeing macy trick or treat!
it was special to have her here with me this year, since 4 years ago we didn't think it would be possible...
she's definitely a good witch!
