on march 18 my mom will turn 60! a huge birthday for anyone, but especially for her because almost 5 years ago she was told she had terminal lung cancer and her life expectancy was less than 5 years...
on her actual birthday, she will be visiting a friend in arizona. so while she was here for the last two weeks, i really wanted to celebrate her! we did lots of little things and i gave her some little pre-birthday treats- like having her hair cut and colored at my salon!
but then on saturday, the kids and i wanted to pretend it was her actual birthday so we decorated the house and showered her with fun!
her favorite cinnamon rolls for breakfast and then some party favors-
for lunch we surprised her and took her to mcdonalds play place! what a treat!
after lunch she did get a treat- i brought her for her first ever facial!
on our way home we stopped at the cupcake bakery so she could choose her own flavor for dessert and then we picked up her favorite dinner- albs of alaskan king crab legs!
my mom is one of a kind. many have wished that she was their mother... i probably take her for granted way too often. when we are together, sometimes she just drives me nuts and i wish i could change her. but after she leaves, i miss her. i wish she was here to share my time and talk with. i look forward to the next phone call, the next visit. she is so strong and i admire her so much. life has not been easy. but she is a fighter. and she is loving and giving and appreciates the simple things. i still have so much to learn from her. i still want her around... i toasted her sunday night saying "here's to the first 60 years, may you get another 30. but not another 60, cause then you will just be a burden!" she laughed. i better get another 30 years with her. i pray that every day... HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!
