Medieval Times

For our kid friendly Colonel promotion dinner, we headed to The Medieval Times Dinner Theater, in Maryland. While this arena is in a local mall, this is what you see when you drive up- 

I had no idea what to expect, and figured at the least, the kids would love it. Surprisingly, Brian and I actually loved it too!

We got there early and checked out all the extras the castle had to offer- the gift shop, lots of photo ops, and the falcon guy-

They were offering tickets at a discount over our spring break, and the kids had a special opportunity to go down on into the arena an hour before the show for training with the knights-

 They loved it! And it was great to later watch the show, knowing that they had been down there.

Tate had some birthday money with him, and was in heaven with all the possible ways to spend it here!

Dinner seating is first come first serve, as you arrive to the castle. You are given a crown of a certain color, dictating where you will sit and which knight you will cheer for. They do staggered entry into the arena, so we didn't feel at all panicked or rushed over where we would sit. Honestly, there isn't a bad seat in the whole place.

The knights were great horsemen and actually pretty good actors too. Apparently Medieval Times has been around since 1983 and has over 400 horses spread out between their 9 locations.

And how about dinner? We were pleasantly surprised! Everyone is given a bowl of soup, 1/2 roasted chicken, even the kids, garlic bread, corn on the cob, roasted potatoes and dessert. The food was just right and having to slurp up your soup and eat your chicken with your hands was a big hit for the kids! While the wine selection stunk, it was great that you could preorder a bottle of wine to be delivered to your seats at the beginning of the show by the bar wench.

 They even brought Tate's dessert with a candle, as it had been his birthday the day before-

Our knight lost in the final battle, sadly. As you see, for the actual sword fight, they dropped netting to keep the crowd safe-

 The show was a full 2 hours, and we were entertained the entire time. If the tickets weren't so costly, we'd love to go back over and over! A definite fun night for all of us.
