Taman Mini

We've been trying to get out and about and do some local exploring more... there is a large outdoor park that is called Taman Mini, which is Jakarta's Epcot is you will. Not at all an amusement park, but it is set up into different areas of the park which represent Indonesia's largest islands. Each island has it's own language, architecture and culture. And since we can't travel anywhere except Bali, we thought we'd go check out this park, which has been on our list to do since we got here honestly...

It was a dreary, drizzly Sunday- so that wasn't the best, but it sure did keep the crowds away. Pre-covid this place must've been very crowded and popular, but now that their programming is non-existence (there used to be cultural events in each area- music, dancing, etc- you can just tell the place is quickly becoming run down and in need of some landscaping and repairs.

Off we go on the tram- hope that doesn't need any repairs!

We made it and it was a cool way to see the park from above. The middle of the park has a large water feature that and each land mass is a island, so it is a mini version of the entire archipelago that makes up the country of Indonesia-

A birds eye view of Sumatra-

And Kalimantan-

Walking around and seeing the different architecture really was cool-

And there is a random bird aviary in the park that was new, nice and large. For sure the highlight of our time there.

Okay done. We checked that off the list.
