i am nearly all cried out from our constant good-byes lately, but here are the highlights of a few more...
last wednesday was macy's last day of "school." she started going to this program in our town, at a local church, in november when she turned 18 months. the class has 10 children age 18 mo-3yrs. its is like a mother's day out program in the states and is great for getting the kids ready to enter into german kindergarten when they turn 3. she LOVES going and often goes two mornings a week, instead of just her tuesday class. there werent too many kids there this day, but i wanted a picture of her sweet teachers- anja and oma (grandma) who truly cared for macy. they only spoke german and were amazed at how much she was understanding in the recent weeks.
this is my great friend sandra. she is a neighbor of mine and i could not have lived here in neckartenzlingen without her! she has lived abroad as well, in greece, so she knew how hard it was to get connected to the community when you are a foriegner and dont speak the language. (although she does speak greek, italian, german and english!) she was a lifesaver and i will miss her a bunch!
on friday, tate went to his last day of german kindergarten. they had a party for him and he was the center of attention all day! he was given so many wonderful gifts- a memory book of all the students, a t-shirt that all the kids signed and a CD full of pictures of his 2 years at the school. i came to pick him up early on friday to snap some pictures...
here they are playing his favorite game- where he got to be a rooster. (that's all i understood!)

as i was taking this last picture, tears were streaming down my face! this school was so special to us and made tate so happy while living here. i dropped him off the first day, not knowing any of the kids and not knowing the language! not many kids could handle that. he was so excited to go every day though and the teachers made sure that he was excepted, showed kindness from the other kids and became fluent in german! it is now amazing to listen to him speak german so well and we are so proud of his confidence couragiousness.
yesterday we had our last "brunch" with our neighbors claudia and klaus. brunch means an all day eating and drinking fest- we got there at 10:30am and left after 6pm and the food never stopped! it is always such a treat to go over for brunch and they have always hosted our family while they were in town too, so my mom, sister's family and my grandmother all know their awesome brunches too! tate had to say good-bye yesterday to johanna, their youngest daughter whom he went to kindergarten with the first year of school here. we hope to see them all in the USA someday!
