saturday 3/24 was tate's birthday party. he got to invite 6 friends from school over and 5 were able to come! the party was from 1-4pm and it was all perfect! (at 2:30 brian and i looked at each other and said "this isn't bad at all!" however by 4:30 we were ready to be done!)
the day before the party, i decided that we didn't have enough decorations for the "video game" theme. brian made these pictures and we printed them out and hung them all around the house-
tate as a skylander (his fav new video game!)
i love this one- tate loves to play the video game "lego: pirates of the carribean"
another skylander
love the ears-
now that we had some decorations, time to make the cake! my mom even helped to frost it-
then i got to decorating the 'lego ninjago training field' cake-
it came out fantastic!
party time! the video games kept them all entertained (at first!)
if they weren't playing video games, it was angry birds on the iPhones!
then we colored skylanders coloring sheets and they consulted the poster to use the correct colors!
james didn't want to color. he enjoyed some angry bird time to himself!
the girls snuck away with macy-
and of course, the boys were still playing video games! (we brought down a second tv, so they could all play together on the PS3 and Wii. i did NOT like having two tv's in my living room!)
macy was just so excited to be able to finally eat the cheetos that she had been eyeing for the week before the party! (tate said he only wanted (pink/strawberry) cake and cheetos at his party!)
tate was trying to pop his bag of cheetos- check out the face!
present time!
how did we miss getting pictures of the kids all singing? oh well... you all know what that is like, right?
now time for the piñata! it started raining right before the party, so we moved luigi into the garage. the piñata seemed to be made of steel and it took forever to bust open!
sarah, vince's mom, and i had to shake all the candy out!
we played some video game versions of hot potato and musical chairs also. (love the simple, old fashioned games!) then look who came to visit-
he even spoke in an italian accent and kept saying "mama mia!" the kids loved it... (he was still in costume when the parents came to pick up their kids. hope they let their kids come back next year!)
the boys- tate, vince and jamestate and yasmine
tate and kyra. (she LOVES tate! she plays all the boy games at recess and her mom says she is nearly obsessed with talking about tate at home. notice how her arm is around tate below. btw- kyra was the first (and only for many weeks) girl on the guest list too!)
tate and abigail
after the kids left, tate enjoyed a little video game time to himself- and used both controllers! that takes talent...
the party was a hit, i know tate loved every second of it and i didn't feel overwhelmed or exhausted planning it. woo hoo- a success all around!
