Nanna and Grandpa McCullough's visit

Gill and George were here with us from Tue 10/28-Thurs 11/6 and we all loved each day that they were here! They traveled to DC via the  Mega Bus Mega- and for $1 round trip each, it was a great way to travel!

Tuesday night I picked them up from Union Station, then drove to Reagan National Airport to get Brian who was just returning from a trip himself!

Wednesday we took it easy, just did a little shopping and went to surprise the kids and have lunch with them at school.

Thursday they toured the Pentagon with Brian (I had to slave in the kitchen to make 100+ Mrs Rockwell cookies for Halloween!)

Friday they took a bus tour around DC with Brian ( I was at the school for Halloween parties)

Taking the bus was a great way to get around the city-

They saw a TON more too...

Saturday we took the day off and enjoyed watching the UT game!

Sunday we headed into the city for the National Cathedral and National Archives. Tate just finished a social studies lesson about the declaration of independence, so it was wonderful to take him to see the  real thing, as well as the constitution and the bill of rights. 

Monday we headed to Mt. Vernon, which we all loved and is quickly becoming a local favorite for me..

Tuesday I had parent teacher conferences, so everyone else headed back into the city to see some more sights!

First up, The Library of Congress, which Brian and his dad both LOVED, mostly because of the amazing architecture-

Then they headed to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History-

Tate took this picture for me, which his evil face, because he knows I'm not a snake fan-

And then they went to Arlington Cemetery for a visit to JFK's grave and saw the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Lastly, they stopped at the Seabee Memorial, because George was a Seabee-

 Wednesday we went to the site of the first civil war battlefield, The Battle of Bull Run and then sadly they left us on Thursday morning....
