On February 25 Macy had her online parent teacher conferences from home. She woke up with a head cold and during her conferences her nose was running and her eyes were watering terribly. So much so that he math teacher jokingly asked if she was crying because she hated math so bad.
After conferences we were headed out for a mom & me day with Alice and Georgia. With some symptoms, I figured it'd be safe for Macy to do a quick antigen test before our meet up just to rule out Covid. She was a trooper and gave herself the at home test and within minutes- positive.
NO WAY. Must be faulty. Do another one...
Positive again. Crap.

Thankfully her symptoms never got worse than they were that morning and disappeared before sunset. Such a strange virus.
But positive is positive and the school has very strict rules about covid. Tate had to stay off campus for 5 days. Thankfully there is still an on-line program in place for both kids to plug into. After 5 days, if PCR negative, he can return to school. Friends advised us to do a nasal steam before testing-

Tate likely would have eaten a spoonful of peanut butter if that meant going back to school! Thankfully, he was negative.
And Macy hunkered down at home for 10 days of home time. Painting-

Orchids grow beautifully here- on the side of trees. This tree that I pass by walking in my neighborhood is covered in over a dozen white orchid plants. Hard to capture them all, but it is stunning-
Superbowl Monday in Jakarta!
Georgia, American but having lived overseas her whole life, has never watched a Superbowl game. So she slept over this year and enjoyed the fun, and snacks, alongside Macy.
Game ended, Brian went to work and kids went to school. And I went to a Superbowl afterparty-
All my girlfriends sent their kids to school and met up at Kayla's in their pajamas for a prosecco and pancake breakfast during the game. See the ref above? Her jersey is legit. That's Jenny Hamlin, and her dad is the famous NFL referee Ed Hochuli.
We had some pre-paid vouchers for dinner at the Ritz and one Friday night we decided to take the kids out to dinner there, instead of our typical pizza and movie night at home. Boy were we disappointed. The ambiance, the food, everything. We all just couldn't wait to go home! But Tate jumped on the piano and entertained us while we waited for our food, so that was lovely-
Seeing this leaf while out walking sure did put a smile on my face one morning-
I can't get enough of family game nights these days-
One weekend all the guys were gone for a night, so I had Laura, Alice and kids over for dinner and games. The kids turned the livingroom into a karaoke room and it was so fun for us to see/hear. And they chose good songs- this one was Eye of the Tiger! Thankfully not BTS.
Macy & Georgia can now perform a Chopsticks duet together-
Brian and Tate went out together on a city bike ride tour one Saturday -
Embassy lunch bunch crew-
This was so sweet. One Saturday morning I had to work a CLO event for my office. And one of the 5th graders showed up carrying a rock. I was very curious about the rock, and he began to tell me a lengthy story about the rock and why he was carrying it. I listened then went on with my day.
The next day, his mom sends me this picture-
And her message is- Love this moment. You are so kind, inclusive and observant.
I had no idea. I was just listening to a kid tell a story. Sometimes when we least expect to, or want to, we make a difference.
Pokeeno in February-
Our hostess, Jenn, didn't know the rule to keep Pak Suharto until the very end for the picture, so he sadly missed a pic with us!
Tipsy Tea in the Peacock Lounge at the Fairmont-
Brian, off doing big things-
