With the club now closed because of our local lockdown restrictions, we were fortunate to be able to still use the amenities because they were in our backyard. So I decided one week to invite the neighbor families to have an old fashioned pool party on Sunday afternoon. Snacks, drinks, music, games, floats water guns, and a water melon...
When Brian bought these float online, he didn't know they were toddler sized. Oops. That's okay- they became a hit with a relay race!
even the dads got into the racing- while the kids all lined up to shoot them with water guns and throw water bombs at them-
While we did have watermelon for snacking, i purposely brought out another one- for watermelon polo. The game was such a hit. Here I am tossing the watermelon (which floats) into the deep end for a vicious game of underwater keep away. We greased the watermelon with oil before tossing it into the pool! The kids loved it.
As I type this, we have had 5 weeks of pool parties. Each week we have more neighbors join in who have returned from their summer travels home. They really have become something we all look forward to for both the adults and kids in such an otherwise indoor & isolating time.
