tate info

so much of this blog is NOT about tate... so here goes.

1. this week has been an exciting one for tate because he is now sleeping in underwear! no more pull-ups (i hope). he had a dry pull up for 7 nights straight and the past 2 nights he has stayed dry in underwear- so we are all very excited. (about time- 4 weeks away from his 4th bday)
we have definately used some bribery and i've been digging deep into the 'reward box' each morning, which is full of christmas and bday presents- some from 2008 even! (most from nanna- thanks!) and he has loved his new thomas underwear to sleep in from grandmommy.

2. tate has become obsessed with peter pan. first he watched the movie by himself and was a bit scared. then we watched the movie together and now he thinks he is peter pan- it is adorable. he is often crawling on the floor looking for his shadow, trying to "fly" from the couch, to the chair, to the ottoman saying "off and away" and constantly requesting me to be captain hook (and wear the pirate hat) and have a sword fight with him. he is always holding his own sword- even in the bathroom. he wants macy to be tinkerbell so badly and will even call her 'tinkerbell' instead of macy. i just bought him a peter pan costume and my macy is about to inherit a tink costume from my god daughter. let the fun times begin!

3. tate's last day of school is this friday! WHAT AM I GOING TO DO? just kidding. in a way, im looking forward to it- but worried there may be days and days that pass that we dont get dressed because we wont have any good reason to!
since hopefully we will be going to the states april, may and june- he would miss school those months. then i sat down with my march calendar and realized that with our two trips and two sets of visitors coming, he would only attend school 7 days the entire month- and i dont want to pay a full month of tuiton for just 7 days! so he will not attend at all in march, making his last day this friday. it is weird to think about, since for the past 10 months he has gone to school 5 days a week. and we LOVE his school, the kids, the parents and the teachers.
his best friend is moving soon and the lead teacher is retiring next month- so there will be lots of changes when he returns... i had a little meeting with the new teacher- whom i REALLY liked (she speaks english SO well!) and she wants tate to be penpals with the kids while we are in the states. i thought that was such a sweet idea. she wants him to know that they havent forgotten about him and that they will be waiting for him to return. so we will send pictures, post cards of our travels and maybe some little souveniers too- hopefully it will be fun for all the kids.

4. with his birthday approaching next month, we are in the beginning stages of planning a party. i asked him recently what he wanted for a cake design and all he could tell me was that he wants a pink (strawberry) cake. hmmmm.... what's up with that?

so there is your tate update. he is just the neatest little kid. full of imagination and energy. he is kind, polite and a good friend. he loves his sister and finds happiness making her smile and laugh. he constantly challenges me to be a better mom, have more patience and have more fun each day... he's a keeper.
