Blended Family Living- week 1

When we arrived, we had NO idea how long we would be in America, but had every intention of staying in CT the whole time. We thought the soonest we'd head to England would be 6 weeks and the latest would be first week in January.

For week 1 in America, we would stay with the Leadbetters- 9 people & 3 dogs- and be a Big Blended Family!

Sara hooked Tate and Macy up with part-time summer jobs, working alongside Shane at the river rafting center just a stones throw from her neighborhood. We were so excited to go drop them off-

Our little workerbee's-

Sara and I were delighted to drive away and know that they were at work for the day passing out tubes! $16, no taxes- not a bad gig! By the end of the summer Tate pulled a shift or two giving the safety briefings and Macy moved up to the register.

How in the world is there a licensed Leadbetter kiddo?

Last fall, the Leadbetters bought a lake house. We could not wait to go see it and once we did, we spent a lot of time there because it is so darn perfect!

When we pulled up, we noticed more of Brian's signs-

Absolutely hilarious!

The pictures now bounce between life at home and life at the lake!

Sara was so thoughtful to send her dogs to her parents for the first few days so Sparky could just adjust to his new life and boy was he was delighted to have more humans to connect with-

We arrived at the end of Drew's baseball playoffs, so while Sara and I went to a VERY hot game, the guys took the other kids to see the Travelers Golf Tournament, same one we all went to 2 years ago together-

In SK SParky did not have any windows to look at and watch the world go by at our house. I loved seeing him like this-

All 9 of us hunkered down to watch the UT Baseball championship game-

A beautiful rainbow over the neighbohood, always a sign from God which is so comforting.

Time for Sparky to meet Nora and Wendy at the Carlson's, which is where we once dropped Stormy off to be rehomed and loved immensely until her passing. It was so sweet returning now with Sparky!

They did fine. Nora was better than expected and Wendy too! It was such a hot day that I think that actually helped!

While we McCullough's were on vacation mode, Sara and Chris still had to work! We tried to help with cooking breakfasts and dinners plus chauffering and entertaining kids.

One day I got to go to work with Sara for a ground breaking ceremony at one of her job sites-

Family dinner at Oma Sue & Goomba's-

Another night of being hunkered down watching UT baseball-

Sometimes we could sleep in Canton, sometimes we would sleep at the lake house. It's only 20 minutes away, so they come and go often. And if you forget your toothbrush, just grab one-

Which Tate admitted to doing. SO GROSS!

Pretty sure I have this same picture with Shane and Belle from year ago-

Not so fun fact- Sparky would experience his first REAL thunder and lightening storm at the lake house. I hadn't realized until that night that we never really got intense storms in SK like we do in the US.

I love love love this porch! And the view-

Check out the giant heart shaped potato that I refused to cut/cook-

Okay, now for some boat pictures!

Macy & Tate tried wake surfing for the very first time. Macy LOVED it and Tate enjoyed it once.

This guy loved being at the lake and was finally moving into relaxing, post-retirement & international move mode-

This girl is now a bit obsessed with boats!

These two sat back and had a beer while watching their kids cover up the boat. We are in that sweet spot of parenting in many, many ways!

Week 1 of CT was an absolute blast!
